well if the food is good, it would have its compensations! Mostly that's how we've done it in our various apts over here, too: whoever doesn't cook cleans up... BUT if the cook makes a fantastically humongous mess then she gets to start the cleanup by doing the worst of it!
Matts the same way. He's a GREAT cook as he cooked for 4 years in high school, but I always end up cleaning up the mess. I wish it worked the same way for me. When I cook he cleans up.

does he do the regular cooking too? It would be a deal for me. I like cooking but do get tired of having to do it all the time
He's actually a way better cook that me, so he pretty much does all the cooking/baking around our house.
